What does it mean to explore syntactic rules in a language?
For instance, canonically rules governing agreement in a language are defined over syntactic features, where we have the following rule for Spanish: “subjects agree with their verbs on number”. So for understanding morphology agreement in a language, we want to know answers to questions like `which word classes mark Gender' or more specific questions like 'which constructions in English show Person agreement'.
Another example would be understanding case assignment e.g. in most Greek constructions pronouns that are subjects of verb, are often in the Nominative case.
Through this tool, we attempt to understand such linguistic phenomena by answering such questions regarding language structure.
